What exactly counts as a "seat"?
A seat is required for each person who directly works with Hugeicons Pro in their day-to-day responsibilities.
Understanding who needs a seat helps ensure proper licensing compliance while avoiding unnecessary costs.
Who Needs a Seat:
- Imports icons into code or project files.
- Uses Hugeicons React, Vue, or Svelte packages.
- Edits or builds UI components that include icons.
- Configures or customizes Hugeicons assets.
- Commits Hugeicons code or files to your repository.
- Directly accesses Hugeicons Pro in Figma, plugins, or icon systems.
Who Does NOT Need a Seat:
- CI/CD pipelines: Automated build and deployment systems.
- Backend developers: Those working exclusively on APIs, databases, or server-side code unrelated to icons.
- QA/testers: Team members who only test functionality without directly working with icon files.
- Infrastructure and DevOps: Engineers managing servers, deployment, or infrastructure without touching UI code.
- View-only users: Anyone who can see the icons but doesn't actively import or work with them.
Do backend developers need a seat?
It depends on what the backend developer does with the Hugeicons icons library.
The hugeicons clearly characterize backend developers based on their specific activities and involvement with the icon library.
A backend developer not require a seat if they:
- Only work on APIs, databases, or code unrelated to icons
- Have no direct interaction with Hugeicons Pro files or assets
A backend developer does require a seat if they:
- Import icons into the codebase
- Configure or customize Hugeicons
- Commit Hugeicons code or assets to the repository
- Directly use or access Hugeicons Pro in internal icon systems
If your backend developer's responsibilities are limited to server-side logic, database management, or API development without touching the icon library, they don't need a seat. However, if they're involved in importing, configuring, or committing icon-related code, a seat is required.
Do CI/CD systems or build agents need seats?
CI/CD systems and build agents don't need to require seats.
Only humans who work directly with icons require seats.
Why Automated Systems Don't Need Seats:
The Hugeicons Pro licensing structure is specifically designed around individual people who actively work with the icons:
- Seat Definition: One seat equals one person
- Seat Requirements: A seat is required for each person who directly uses, imports, or accesses Hugeicons Pro in Figma, plugins, code, or internal icon systems
- Developer Seats: Needed for developers who import icons, configure them, or commit Hugeicons code/assets
- View-Only Exception: Users who only view content do not need seats
Automated Systems vs. People:
Since CI/CD systems and build agents are automated tools used to compile, build, or package code rather than individual people actively using, importing, or maintaining the icons.
they do not fall under the defined seat requirements
Who Actually Needs Seats:
Seats are required for the designers and developers on your team who:
- Import or configure Hugeicons in their workflow
- Commit icon code or assets to your repository
- Directly access or work with Hugeicons Pro files
Note: If you have specific questions about your CI/CD, we recommend contacting [email protected] for clarification.
Can I upgrade seats later?
Yes, you can upgrade your seats later as your team grows. In fact, if your team size hits your current license limit, you are required to upgrade to ensure continued access to Hugeicons Pro.
Upgrade Requirements:
When your team reach purchased seat count, you must upgrade to the appropriate license tier
- Startup Plan – Up to 5 seats
- Business Plan – Up to 25 seats
- Enterprise Plan – Custom solutions for teams requiring more than 25 seats
For your Information: Contact [email protected] to discuss custom Enterprise Plan options tailored to your needs.
If we add new developers later, will they be blocked?
New developers will not be automatically blocked when they join your team.
However, if adding new developers causes your team to exceed your current Hugeicons Pro seat limit, you must upgrade your license to avoid account restrictions.
A developer needs a seat if they:
- Import icons into your codebase
- Configure or customize Hugeicons
- Commit Hugeicons code or assets to your repository
- Directly access or use Hugeicons Pro in plugins or internal icon systems
Recommendation: To ensure uninterrupted access for your growing team, proactively upgrade your license before onboarding new developers who will work with Hugeicons Pro. Remember: one seat equals one person, and licenses cannot be shared.
What happens if I reach our seat limit?
Nothing breaks. Installs, imports, and builds continue normally. We never block usage, you only receive a notification suggesting an upgrade.
If you exceed your purchased seat limit under Hugeicons Pro plans, you are required to upgrade to the appropriate license tier.
Here's what you need to know:
- You must upgrade to the correct license that matches your actual usage (either the Startup 5-seat license or the Business 25-seat license, depending on your needs)
- The upgrade should be completed promptly to remain in compliance with the licensing terms
- If your usage continues to exceed the purchased seat count without upgrading, your account may be restricted or suspended
Seats are required for each person who -
- Directly uses Hugeicons Pro files or code
- Imports icons into Figma
- Accesses icons through plugins
- Works with icons in internal icon systems
Important Note: View-only users do NOT require a seat. Only team members who actively work with or implement the icons need to be counted toward your seat limit.
To avoid any service interruptions, we recommend monitoring your team size and upgrading your license proactively when your needs grow.
How big is the npm package?
While the Unpacked file size is 37.8 kb of Hugeicons NPM packages.
Hugeicons NPM packages include several features that ensure a lightweight footprint in your application
Performance Optimization Features:
- Tree-shaking support: Only the icons you actually use are included in your final build, eliminating unused icons code.
- Lightweight SVG files: Icons are delivered as optimized SVG format for minimal file size.
- Performance-focused architecture: Built from the ground up with performance as a core priority.
- Scalable without bloat: Icons remain lightweight regardless of how they're scaled or used.
What This Means for Your Project:
The combination of tree-shaking and lightweight SVG architecture means that the NPM package will have minimal impact on your overall application size.
Rather than loading the entire icon library, your bundler will only include the specific icons your application actually imports and uses, keeping your bundle size as small as possible.
For the most accurate size information for your specific use case, you can check the package size on NPM or measure the actual impact on your build after implementing tree-shaking with your bundler (Webpack, Vite, Rollup, etc.).
